Einkorn Sourdough Starter

Homemade sourdough starter

Equipment

  • glass jar
  • einkorn all-purpose flour
  • filtered water
  • wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. Day 1 start sourdough starter. heaping 1/4 cup flour and 1/4 cup filtered water....adjust for a thick batter
  2. Day 2 stir feed same amounts morning and night
  3. Day 3 discard half...put discard in fridge for recipes and feed leftover starter
  4. Day 4 stir feed morning and night
  5. Day 5 discard half...put discard in fridge for recipes and feed leftover starter
  6. Day 6 stir feed morning and night
  7. Day 7- stir feed morning and night
  8. Day 8 ACTIVE YEAST

Notes

*On higher humidity days, I find feeding my sourdough works better if feed morning and night.
*If you cannot tend to your sourdough starter, just put it in the fridge. When ready to use it, warm it to room temperature and start feeding.
